Born in Serbia, Drago “Kazooic” embarked on a musical journey from an early age. A talented pop-rock and world music artist, he carved a name for himself in his homeland with published records and official chart appearances. Eventually, destiny led him to immigrate to Canada, settling in Mississauga from Etobicoke eight years ago.

Upon arriving in Mississauga, Drago faced the challenge of building new connections and friendships. Feeling the absence of love in his new home, he channeled his emotions into music, composing a heartfelt song titled “No Love in Mississauga.” Driven by a desire for unity and connection, he collaborated with eleven diverse musicians from Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Together, they formed a unique collective called “Mississauga Invasion.”

The “Mississauga Invasion” project was a harmonious blend of artists from various cultural backgrounds, including Indian, Caribbean, Filipino, Indigenous, Scottish, Jewish, English, Venezuelan, Serbian, and multigenerational native Canadians. The project gained immense popularity and earned appearances on local radio shows, as well as at shows and Open Mics throughout the GTA.

One remarkable aspect of Drago Kazooic’s artistry is his distinctive choice of a primary instrument – the kazoo. As the only Canadian musician to claim the kazoo as his musical soulmate, he adds an exciting and unconventional twist to his compositions.

The success of “Mississauga Invasion” paved the way for other noteworthy projects, such as “Hello Madness,” a gypsy song in English that delves into the theme of toxic consumerism. Additionally, “Burning Down the Fire Station” is a playful track that humorously compares unrequited love to committing absurd actions like burning down a fire station or stealing from policemen.

Beyond his creative endeavors, Drago and his 13-year-old son David are actively involved in the Serbian community of GTA. Both members of the “Academy of Serbian Folk Dancing,” they passionately practice and perform Serbian folk dancing. David, a talented percussionist, and Drago, an adept bass guitarist, contribute their musical talents to preserving and celebrating their cultural heritage.

At the heart of Drago Kazooic’s mission lies the pursuit of blending Eastern European musical influences with North American and Canadian styles. Through his music, he aims to bridge cultural divides and foster unity among people from diverse backgrounds. Driven by a profound love for music and a genuine desire for connection, Drago “Kazooic” continues to inspire audiences with his enchanting melodies and messages of harmony.
